Parent of Danbury’s IMS Health replacing Whole Foods on S&P 500

Quintiles IMS Holdings Inc., the parent company of Danbury-based IMS Health, will replace Whole Foods Market Inc. on the S&P 500 Index, effective prior to the opening of trading on Aug. 29. The change is a result of Inc.’s acquisition of Whole Foods, which is expected to be completed on Aug. 28.

Headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Quintiles IMS Holdings provides integrated information and technology-enabled health care services. Quintiles IMS was formed by a merger between Danbury’s IMS Health Holdings Inc. and Durham’s Quintiles Transnational Inc. last October in a deal worth approximately $9 billion.
