The National Women’s Hockey League’s (NWHL) Connecticut Whale has announced that it will be playing its 2019-20 season at Danbury Arena.
This marks the fourth home venue for the team over the span of five seasons, following residencies at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, the Northford Ice Pavilion in Northford and the Terry Conners Ice Rink at Cove Island Park in Stamford. The Whale will conduct all of their practices and play their home games at the 2,000-seat Danbury Arena; the dates for the new NWHL season will be announced later in the month.
“The Whale are very proud to establish a partnership with Danbury Arena,” said Bray Ketchum, the team’s general manager. “It is a truly great hockey arena with the amenities our team and Whale fans deserve. We hope to make Danbury Arena the home of the Connecticut Whale for many seasons to come.”
The Whale is the latest hockey franchise at Danbury Arena, which is also home to a pair of New York Rangers initiatives – Junior Rangers and the recently formed Junior Rangers Girls Hockey – plus the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Hockey League and Danbury Colonials of the NA3HL.
