Around The Towns: $450K Raised For Biden, Himes Holds Town Hall Meetings, Educated Canines

Gov. Ned Lamont announced that nearly $450,000 was raised at the recent presidential campaign fundraiser that he and his wife held at their home in Greenwich for former Vice President Joe Biden.

More than 100 people attended the Oct. 20 fundraiser. The suggested donation was $2,800, the maximum contribution under federal law for the presidential primary.

The cash infusion was timely for Biden's campaign. Prior to Lamont’s event, Democrats Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and California Sen. Kamala Harris raised more than Biden in Connecticut during the third quarter, according to federal campaign finance reports. Republican President Donald Trump also raised more in Connecticut during the previous quarter than Biden.

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes Holds November Town Halls

Congressman Jim Himes will hold three town hall meetings in November to share an update from his recent work in Congress and to gather input from constituents.

“As Congress deliberates on how to lower prescription drug costs, combat climate change, reduce our national deficit, prevent future gun violence, address our broken immigration system and much more, I want to hear your thoughts and ideas on these and the other important issues we are facing as a country,” Himes said. “Hearing from you makes me a better representative, and I hope you will join me at one of my upcoming town halls.”

Constituents may RSVP by calling (203) 333-6600 or by emailing Himes.RSVP@mail.house.gov. RSVPs are encouraged, but not required.
