Back in December of 2016, we wrote a story about Greenwich teacher Kim Tamalonis, who encouraged her students to sell their art to support programs for refugee kids in conflict zones. Recently, Kim was in touch with exciting news that you can share in this weekend.

“After our informal 2015 launch, I started the process of turning kids’ efforts to use the arts for local, national and global community building into a nonprofit.  Big Picture Foundation was appointed 501(c)(3) status on Jan. 9, 2017.

“This Sunday (Sept. 22), we will hold our first benefit from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rye Presbyterian Church. The event will feature Ponticelli, a Juilliard Pre-College Program cello quartet, including Rye High School sophomore Sean Yu….

“Since our inception, we have received submissions from 73 art groups (schools, aid organizations and independent kids’ groups) that have hailed from 31 countries and six continents.  Among our initiatives, we often challenge kids to follow focused themes. Please see the results from Samoa, Indonesia, Greece, Nepal, Iraq and the U.S. of our summer climate change awareness challenge at  https://bigpicturefoundation.org/2019/07/30/15503.”
