WAG has long worked with local artist and independent curator Barbara Galazzo, who for years ran Gallery 66NY in Cold Spring and is now curator and exhibitions director of the Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack.
We’ve kept up with her since her Cold Spring space closed – and are happy to pass along her latest news.
Galazzo was tapped to be one of the jurors for a new photography exhibition opening June 20 at SK Art Gallery NY in White Plains.
“Impressions of Life” will feature the black-and-white photography work of 14 artists who, as advance materials explain, “had a story to tell.”
Gallery director Simone Kistelman will showcase the work of Andrew Courtney, Dorothy Dahlberg, Janaina De Sousa, Dennis Dilmaghani, Sarah Liss, Nora Moore Lloyd, Elizabeth Murphy, Christopher Neyen, Tom Nolan, Lori Ordover, Marc Pitler, Sandra Simon, Irv Suss and Robert Urcchio, artists selected by jurors Galazzo and Brigitte Freed, who was the dark room developer and printer for photojournalist Leonard Freed’s photographs and has curated and published six books on photography.
The exhibition opening is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m., with the show continuing through July 31 at the gallery, at 122 Westmoreland Ave.
