One sparkling sip

Sometimes the tasting notes of a wine can really capture the imagination.

That was the case when I was reading the notes for Scharffenberger Cellars’ Brut Rosé Excellence.

See if you agree:

“The wine has a pale salmon hue with integrated aromas of fresh raspberry jam and wild strawberries on a cream-covered pastry base. The flavors are layered, round, fresh, fruity and long.”

Intrigued, we agreed to sample the sparking Rosé, which is composed of 58% Chardonnay and 42% Pinot Noir.

Well, we were first pleased by the bubbles and then by the fact that it wasn’t an overwhelmingly sweet sip.

So if you’re looking for a sophisticated pour for any of your warm-weather entertaining, we’d say this sparkling Rosé ($22.99) from California’s Anderson Valley – and the Roederer Family (the people behind the famed Cristal) – is worth a try.
