Are you confused about the election process? Before it gets better, it's about to get a little more complicated.
Starting Saturday, Oct. 26, all New Yorkers can begin voting for candidates in the Nov. 5 election -- yes, nine days before usual. That's because of a new "early voting" law, making New York the 39th state to offer it.
Most counties will be offering one early voting site. Westchester residents are being afforded the ability to vote at one or -- in some cases -- two polling places from noon to 5 p.m. on most days leading up to the standard Tuesday Election Day. On a few days, the polls will be open at 8 a.m. or open until 8 p.m. (as detailed below.)
The League of Women Voters is conducting this survey of first-time "early voting" experiences.
Early Voting polling places may differ from your normal Election Day sites. (Voters still have the option to vote on Election Day at assigned polling places.)
Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Voters who can’t make it to the polls on Election Day may request an absentee ballot.)
