Regional localities were among the top-ranked metro areas in the nation on a new WalletHub study of the nation’s most ethnically diverse cities.
WalletHub tracked more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities and measured ethnic-racial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity to determine its rankings. Fairfield County was represented on the list by Bridgeport (ranked 14th), Stamford (ranked 27th), Danbury (ranked 37th) and Norwalk (ranked 51st). Other Connecticut cities to make the list were New Haven (30th), New Britain (32nd), Hartford (38th), Waterbury (45th) and West Hartford (203rd).
Westchester was represented by Yonkers (31st), New Rochelle (41st) and Mount Vernon (163rd). New York City ranked sixth, while Jersey City, New Jersey, was cited as the nation’s most ethnically diverse location and Hialeah, Florida, ranked 501st as the least ethnically diverse locality due to its 96.44 percent Hispanic population.
