In our April 9 issue, we reported on the students at Pace University who produced a documentary about the hurricane recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. Now, that film has had its world premiere – a sold-out event at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville on May 1.
“Puerto Rico: Hope in the Dark” is the 15th student-produced documentary to come out of Pace University’s Media, Communications and Visual Arts department’s “Producing the Documentary” course.
“I was so pleased at the attendance and the attention that the documentary received,’’ said Maria Luskay, the Pace professor who led the student filming trip to Puerto Rico. “Our hope is that more people reach out to help in whatever way they can and that the citizens of Puerto Rico get the assistance they so desperately need.”
